Favorite Romance Stories
What romance story is your favorite?
My top three for sure are:
- Romeo & Juliet (we're covering it in Art History right now. It's such a sweet story ;_; )
- A Midsummer Night's Dream (nice comedy; Shakespeare again. Also, pay attention to the play preformed of the Greek Romance tale at the end. Sounds a lot like another romance play Shakespeare wrote. )
- Cupid and Psyche

Romance, huh? I actually don't have the stomach for pure romance, but I do like the movies Dirty Dancing and Somewhere in Time.
That's about as romantic as I'll get. >_>

Oh, same for me. Most of the time I couldn't bother myself to read a romance book or watch a Romance movie, unless it's a classic. I tend to prefer Romance when it's part of a story, rather than the story itself.

I'm not even one for classics. We were watching Casablanca in French and I just... spaced out. >>

Ah, I understand. I love Casablanca since I'm a '20s-'40s fanboy and it's a classic, but I know what you mean. I always zone out whenever we watch a Romance movie in school that's after the 1980s, save for the Phantom of the Opera, Titanic, the remake of Bye Bye Birdie (and, yes, I'm the only guy who pays attention too xD; ) and a few others.

I love Romeo and Juliet and Shakespeare, and I love any romance novels by Danielle Steele. Her novels are so unique, interesting, and just lovely. I love reading her books, when I am alone on the weekdays.

I'm reading Romeo & Juliet again in English right now, speaking of which.
So many vulgar jokes, I swear >>.

The Graduate is one of the best romantic movies/stories ever, along with Gone with the Wind and Romeo and Juliet.

First the two lovers have to meet so you have to create a situation and environment. It can be on a train, plane, ship while traveling or it can just be at work or bumping into each other or one saving another's life without even knowing him/her if you want it dramatic from the start. Then you have to thicken the plot and introduce secondary characters. You can make it Romeo and Juliet style by having feuding families making it difficult. But you can have them triumph and give it a happy ending instead. Love stories usually have an obstacle that the main characters have to overcome, such as rescuing a beloved, overcoming an illness, an evil "other" man or woman who tries to prevent their love. You can also have them separated then reunited at the end to make it bittersweet if you want. You also have to create a time period or era for the story to give it a mood. It can be past or present. Think of some Hollywood classic romance movies and try to incorporate them into your story. Some of my favorite romance movies are: Roman Holiday, Sabrina, The Princess Bride, Romancing the Stone, Enchantment, Marie Antoinette, etc.
